Trip to Tamale
Our trip to Tamale and the Northern Region of Ghana was a delightful adventure filled with cultural experiences and natural beauty. We connected with the local community in Bolgatanga, learning how to make beehives with twigs and cow dung, and enjoyed an exciting safari in Tamale, where we saw a variety of wildlife, including walking alongside large wild elephants.
Joining Hands for Ghana: A Volunteer EMT’s Mission to Make a Difference
Am a volunteer EMT in Arco, Idaho, and through fellow volunteers Ginger and Lewis Bird, I learned about Ghana Make a Change. My company, Dragon Fly Tarps, donated fabric to make washable sanitary pads for Ghanaian girls who miss school due to lack of access to disposable pads. This experience inspired me to join their next humanitarian trip as part of the Medical Team. However, the trip costs $3,500, which is a significant financial burden.

Kakum National Park
Our visit to Kakum National Park will be an exhilarating adventure immersed in the heart of Ghana's tropical rainforest. We will navigate the famous canopy walkway, suspended high above the forest floor, offering breathtaking views of the lush greenery and diverse wildlife below. Walking among the treetops, we will spot various bird species and listen to the sounds of the jungle, feeling a profound connection to nature.

Joining Hands for Ghana: A Volunteer EMT’s Mission to Make a Difference
I’ve been asked: “What is Ghana Make a Change”? So, here it is, in a nutshell.
Ghana Make a Change is an organization that helps communities in Ghana, Africa to live healthier and safer lives. They work and help them attain fresh water near their homes, create a personal dental hygiene regimen, have greater opportunities for transportation, feeding & clothing children and families, building schools, and much more. Groups are organized and sent to Ghana for 2-3 weeks to provide the tools and skills necessary to drill wells, convert bikes into motorcycles, build and maintain schools, raise chickens, become beekeepers, learn dental & general hygiene, and more, with the limited amount of resources within the Ghana community.
100% of all profits and monetary / physical donations go towards the humanitarian services for The Ghanaians.
As many of you know, I am a Volunteer EMT in our little town of Arco, Idaho, where I met Ginger Bird, a fellow volunteer EMT, and her husband Lewis Bird, a dedicated volunteer Ambulance Driver. The company I manage in Arco, Dragon Fly Tarps, makes outdoor tarps from waterproof ripstop polyester fabric. The Birds contacted us, asking if we could donate some scrap fabric. When inquired, we found out that it will be used to make multi-use washable sanitary pads for Ghanaian girls who miss a week of school every month, due to not being able to afford disposable sanitary pads. We immediately said YES, and not only donated the fabric, but also cut 1,000 of the wings pattern on our CNC cutting table. The Birds organized a couple of “sewing days”, where the community came together and sewed flannel pads on the waterproof material, added snaps, and made them ready for distribution in Ghana.
My wife and I participated in the cutting and sewing days, and while talking to Ginger & Lewis about Ghana, everything they told me fascinated me. I was hooked, and I wanted to give more!
They told me that there would be another trip to Ghana, and I could join their Humanitarian effort, as part of the Medical Team, providing children and adults with medical and hygiene supplies & necessities, performing general checkups, administering HIV and Malaria tests, checking eye vision and much more.
I was hooked, but the cost of $3,500 per person, which includes the airfare, and all transportation, food, and lodging in Ghana, is a heavy burden and hindrance. I decided to make this wonderful Elongated Coin design, in a genuine effort to raise enough funds to make this Humanitarian trip a reality.

Over the years, Ghana Make a Change has proudly completed numerous projects, leaving a tangible mark on communities throughout the country.
With 4 wells dug to provide clean drinking water, 2 schools supported to enhance education, 2 clinics supported with beds and other materials to improve healthcare access, 2 free health screening clinics provided to the general public, and 2 small businesses empowered for economic growth, our impact continues to resonate. These figures represent more than just statistics, they reflect lives transformed, futures secured, and communities empowered.
